Our clients approached us with the challenge of first finding them an undeveloped lot in a small town, then to build them their new home. Port Hope is famous for its inventory of historic buildings, and the owners wanted a design that embodied the tradition of Old Ontario housebuilding. The house is turned sideways to the main frontage so that the Living Room, Study and Master Bedroom all get a view of Lake Ontario. Only eight years old, the home has been included in the annual architectural conservancy's house tour.

The center-hall plan features a Dining Room and Living Room to each side, with plank oak flooring throughout, high ceilings and generous natural light. We framed in the biggest double-hung wood windows available.
