We were called in to help the Owners renovate after an accident made barrier-free use of their home imperative. Not an easy task to accomplish in a split-level bungalow! We built a small elevator to serve all levels of the home, and added a large Master Bedroom wing with a studio below at the garden level. We were fortunate to have such a beautiful site to work with; from inside the home, it felt as though one were living in a forest. We built a new deck around the existing trees, leaving them to rise up through the floor. For wheelchair use, all the flooring surfaces inside were changed to solid maple planking, with slate tile in the Master Bathroom and Kitchen.
