This modern interior is an example of how we deal with an open plan in the layout of a home. The kitchen in this new home sits firmly rooted beneath a bank of skylights. Generous counter surfaces extend around the perimeter of the space. An island to one side of the Kitchen gives even more work surface. All cabinets are in the pale maple wood used elsewhere in the home.

Almost the full length of the interior of this home can be seen from the Living Room, where sunlight falls from the bank of skylights above. Even though the dining table and Kitchen beyond are open to the Living Room, the three spaces are given separate ceiling heights and lighting. At night, the lighting can be dimmed so that different spaces are illuminated, or disappear.
